Dr. Shawn Cowper's primary research interest is in the mechanism of
Nephrogenic Fibrosing Dermopathy, a newly-described fibrosing disorder
seen in patients with renal disease.He is assisting in identifying new
cases of NFD, tracking these cases with personnel from the Centers for
Disease Control and Prevention, and examining the clinical, histopathological,
and physiological features of this unusual disorder. In addition, Dr.
Cowper is interested in cutaneous lymphomas and alopecias, and the appropriate
use of histopathology in diagnosing these disorders. His primary and
preferred instructional tool is the networked computer. He has been
involved with web-based pathology education for some time. His largest
project is Pathmax, a web-based resource for pathology professionals
currently accomodating 60,000 unique visitors per year from over 80
countries.
